You can 'hard wire' the screen resolution instructions with RDC.

1: Right click the RDC icon and select 'Open with Notepad'

2. Edit the settings:

screen mode id:i:1
use multimon:i:0
desktopwidth:i:1440
desktopheight:i:860
session bpp:i:16

3. Save

4. Run the RDC
