Unlike most other software you may use such as web browsers, word, excel, and email clients; SoEasy is a network program where multiple users are commonly accessing multiple files all at the same time.

There is a lot going on behind the scenes and for this network functionality to work properly it is very important that the computer system that SoEasy is operating on is regularly maintained.

In this age where most software is hosted on the web, user's environments are maintained by the software manufacturer.

However there are still lots of organisations hosting their software on their local PC's and in such cases, it is important to schedule regular maintenance.

The minimum requirements are; for servers and workstations:

1. Keep Windows Operating Systems up-to-date

2. Maintain your antivirus software. Note: Microsoft Security Essentials is a free Antivirus product and is non invasive

3. Reboot your entire computer system once a month (see below)

4. Check issues in the 'eventvwr'

5. Check for driver updates for the motherboard and network card

6. Use CCleaner to clear junk files and check the registry

7. Defrag your hard drives

8. Test hard drives for errors

Reorganise SoEasy's files

Reboot includes:

  1. Routers
  2. Server
  3. Workstations

Powering On

Switch everything off, and when all is off, switch it all back on in the following order:

  1. Router (allow 60 seconds for it to fully boot up)
  2. Printers
  3. Server
  4. Computers

Observations

A significant part of the IT Industry foundation is based upon the fact that computers fail and require maintenance.

For non IT staff, failing hardware, operating systems, and networks can be a very frustrating experience.

When a computer fails it has a negative effect on any application that is being worked on at the time and this is often the SoEasy application.

When the hardware issues are not noticed, and an application has a spate of failures, it is often considered that the application is at fault.

In 99% of the cases we examine, we always find that the hardware and operating system have errors that created the issues and when resolved, the issues are also resolved.

Please maintain your computer systems for trouble free operation or move to our web server services where we maintain the systems daily.
